The 3 Reports Every Founder Should Be Able to Pull Without Asking Anyone

If getting a straight answer about your pipeline requires a Slack message, a spreadsheet, and 45 minutes on a Sunday — that's not a reporting problem. That's a visibility problem.

And visibility is something you can build.

After reviewing revenue systems at companies from 5 to 200 people, the founders who feel most in control of their business aren't looking at 12 dashboards. They're looking at 3 reports — and they can pull them in under 10 minutes.

Here's what those three reports tell them:

1. What's in the pipeline — and what's real. Not every deal in your CRM is a real deal. This report shows you what's actually moving, what's been sitting untouched for 30+ days, and where your forecast is coming from. If you can't pull this in 5 minutes, your pipeline data isn't clean enough to trust.

2. Where deals are getting stuck. Not which reps are underperforming — where in the process deals slow down or die. Stage-by-stage conversion tells you whether you have a top-of-funnel problem, a closing problem, or something happening in the middle that nobody's talking about.

3. What last month actually looked like — and why. Revenue came in. Where did it come from? Which segment, which channel, which rep, which motion? If you can't answer that, you can't repeat it on purpose.

These aren't fancy.

They're not even advanced.

But most companies don't have them — because nobody ever stopped to build them intentionally.

The goal isn't more data. It's data you trust, in a format you can actually use to make a decision.

If you spend more time building reports than reading them, that's the first thing to fix.
